Banyan Tree of Yau Ma Tei
by Wong Tin YanThe Banyan of Yau Ma Tei is more than a local landmark. It is a place where the local community gathers and shares joy and laughter. It is a place where stories of Yau Ma Tei are told and heard. The Banyan of Yau Ma Tei at Hotel Stage are crafted from recycled wood gathered from the local community. Old scratches and rough textures found on this wood are evidence of hardships and endurance of the local workers in the neighourhood. This artwork at Hotel Stage allows greater cultural exchanges between the local community and guests from all walks of life, thus inspiring us all to tell our own stories.
